Supporting conservation

Tuesday, July 9, 2019

I became a board member of the Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County in 2018 because it's a way I can contribute to the Iowa Great Lakes community. The CFDC is a non-profit organization that is responsible for fundraising and donations that support improvements at the more than 10 county parks and areas owned and managed by the Dickinson County Conservation Board in Dickinson County. The Dickinson County Conservation Board staffing and operations are funded through county government, but special projects such as land acquisitions and exhibits are supported by the Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County.

The CFDC has been involved in the fundraising efforts for Pollinator Paradise at the Dickinson County Nature Center, a land acquisition at Reeds Run and upcoming projects such as the bridge at Horseshoe Bend and the Kenue Park lodge. These projects are supported by fundraising and membership dues, so I am encouraging you to join the CFDC and be part of the gift of our public parks and areas in Dickinson County.
