Reception for Wetzeler announced
The Family of Chuck Wetzeler and staff of The State Bank invite the public to a reception from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the State Bank in Spirit Lake on Friday, July 7 to honor Chuck Wetzeler for his 90th Birthday.
Chuck started his banking career in Remsen in 1950 at First Trust and Savings Bank. In 1955, Chuck and his family moved to Storm Lake where he took a position at Commercial Trust and Savings Bank. After leaving Storm Lake, Chuck worked briefly in Frankfort, Illinois, at the Frankfort State Bank.
In 1964, Chuck and family relocated to Spirit Lake where he accepted the position as Executive Vice President at The State Bank. During this time, the charter of The State Bank of Terril was moved to Spirit Lake; it then became The State Bank in Spirit Lake and Terril. His 53 years of service in Spirit Lake includes bringing in two more generations of family to carry on the legacy of banking. This allows him to semi-retire as Chairman of the Board.
Chuck has been involved with many organizations. He coached his sons in baseball, was a track official for the local school district and served on the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce. He is currently a member of Kiwanis, American Legion and United Methodist Church.
