A celebration of life service for Philip Den Herder, age 83, of Okoboji will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until service time at the church.

Philip Dean Den Herder, born on Aug. 2, 1940, in Sioux Center, peacefully passed away on Sept. 26, 2023. He was the son of Elmer and Christine (Vreeman) Den Herder.

There will be no formal services for Colleen Sander, age 86, of Arnolds Park.

Colleen Sander, the daughter of Harold and Irean North, was born Sept. 30, 1936 in Spencer. She graduated from Arnolds Park High School.

On Sept. 4, 1954, Colleen married Don Sander in Arnolds Park. In 1968, their family moved from Spencer to Arnolds Park. Colleen worked in the home and in her spare time enjoyed baking, sewing and gardening.

Sally Ginn Hood, age 81, passed away of Alzheimer’s on August 18, 2023, at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines. She was born June 25, 1942 in Jefferson City, Missouri, to M. Stanley Ginn and Rosemary Lucas Ginn. She grew up in Columbia, Missouri, where she was a member of the class of 1960 Hickman Kewpies.

A celebration of life service for 85-year-old Nancy Chapman Christenson of Spirit Lake was held Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Memorials will be given to the Friends of Spirit Lake Library.

A funeral service for Virginia Brons, age 90, of Lake Park was held Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park. Interment was at Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park.

Virginia Lucille Brons, age 90, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, in Lake Park. She was born Oct. 28, 1932, in Spencer to Olen and Elsie (Handy) Stroup. Virginia attended school in Spencer, graduating in 1951.

A funeral service for Beverly Cother, age 55, of Spirit Lake was held Saturday, Sept. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church in Spirit Lake. Burial was at the Okoboji Cemetery in Arnolds Park.

Wayne Lee Markley  Sr. of Fairmont, Minnesota, formally of Spirit Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 16 of at Mayo hospital. A celebration of life is pending.

Arlen Claus Voss, aged 89 years, five months and 20 days, peacefully passed away on Sept. 5, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
