If the numbers are any indication, last year's Okoboji Writer's Retreat was a success.

Organizer Julie Gammack said about 120 people attended the debut retreat in September of 2021, and a good majority of them intend to return this year and further hone their skills — Gammack is already expecting bout 180 participants.

"So I think we have ourselves an annual event," she said.
