Bright colors were on display under an overcast sky Friday afternoon during Dee's Bee and Butterfly Festival at the Dickinson County Nature Center. The festival, recognizing and celebrating the roles pollinators play in the world, was renamed in honor of long-time organizer Delores Maser after the 2019 celebration. However, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a scaled-back celebration for the debut of the new name. This year, children once again stood in line for their turn to release a monarch butterfly on its southward migration. Pollinator-themed crafts were ready for the youngsters in the nearby Maser Monarch Lodge, and Kindermusik at the Lakes provided some themed entertainment and activities for the event. The Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo from Medford Minnesota also visited, putting a few of the zoo's animals on display for visitors.
