Okoboji Schools parade to keep students and teachers connected
Families were lined up along streets in Milford Friday afternoon – approximately 6 feet apart – so young students could wave hello to their teachers and local EMS personnel as their vehicles paraded through the community. Vehicles and viewers alike shared messages and well wishes for one another as the parade passed. The students haven't been able to go to school for about two weeks after a governor's declaration prompted schools across Iowa to close for a month out of concern for the novel coronavirus. Many school districts are conducting similar parades to help maintain emotional connections between teachers and students while school is out of session and hopefully counter feelings of isolation.
