BY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JON PAUSLEY - OKOBOJI BIBLE CONFERENCE MINISTRIES
The Okoboji Bible Conference recently wrapped up our 85th annual Conference. The annual August gathering has been a place where generations have come to meet God, reconnect with friends and grow in their faith. The conference in recent years has had a theme that guides the week. The theme from 2018 and 2019 dovetail together nicely. They have a great guide for how we can live out faith in our life.
One of the greatest challenges we all face in life is overcoming fear. A natural human response to fear is to stop moving — to move into protective modes of thinking and acting. We stop imagining what could be and only deal with what is.
In the face of fear even our view of reality can be distorted. In Psalm 103 we read that God knows our human frame. As our creator and designer, God knows how we operate and what it is we need.
The conference themes over the last two years have been: "Unafraid" and "Imagine More."
Isaiah 41:10 reads:
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. God calls his people to remember that he is with them."
The God of the universe present with you in all areas of life helps to overcome fear.
Ephesians 3:20 reads:
"God is able to do far more than we can ask for or imagine. God is with us to help overcome fear. Overcoming fear helps us to Imagine More of what God can do in our life, in our families, our communities and in this world."
Let's look to live in the reality of the presence of God to keep our fears at bay and allow us to be open to imagine more of what God can do!
