Several members of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church took part in a painting and work party Saturday, Aug. 19, at The Way Station in Spencer.
They painted some of the rooms and cleaned up other areas of the building prior to the start up of this new mission project. There is still some work to do and another work day is being planned for Labor Day.
The Way Station is located at 302 N. Grand Ave. in downtown Spencer. It is a new outreach ministry project of St. Alban’s and will be led by the Rev. Beth Preston, a newly-ordained priest in the Episcopal Church. When the mission opens, it will offer various activities on its premises, including services on Sunday afternoons and healing prayers on an as needed basis. There will be complimentary coffee, a used book store/reading room, outreach through the arts offering art workshops and other cultural gatherings.
