2022 season begins at PLAC
Abbey Soul and 4 Way Suite started off the 2022 performing arts season in the Lauridsen Performing Arts Theatre at the Pearson Lakes Art Center Friday night.
Five good musicians treated the meager crowd to a Beatles tribute show with some Crosby, Stills and Nash along with Buffalo Springfield thrown in for good measure.
Three guitarists, a keyboard artist and drummer rounded out the band. Andy, one of the guitarists, also played great trumpet solos during “Yellow Submarine” and “Sgt. Pepper” while adding his harmonica to another number.
Charlie, Dave, Brooks and Stan rounded out the group. All but the keyboard player were involved in harmonizing vocals. I felt bad for them because it is winter and they appeared to be plagued by colds making the high notes difficult to reach. That did not deter them from going forward with the show.
The new lighting effects, wonderful sound system and fun scenes on the large screen behind the band added greatly to the show.
The show concluded with a lengthy version of “Hey Jude,” and we all knew that we had revisited many of our favorite Beatles songs.
The next show will be held on May 31 with outstanding entertainer BAT returning for another evening of music in Pomerantz Hall. Then June, July and August are filled with an exciting lineup of entertainers.
