Maddie Poppe’s Acoustic Christmas to return to the Roof Garden
Tuesday, October 19, 2021
Join Maddie Poppe for an intimate night of music at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at the fabulous Roof Garden Ballroom in Arnolds Park. The 23-year-old Clarksville native and Season 16 winner of ABC’s American Idol performed here last year as part of the first Maddie Poppe’s Acoustic Christmas tour. She also performed in the Roof Garden on July 2 in front of an enthusiastic audience. Her November show is presented by The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association, in partnership with the Roof Garden Ballroom.
The Maddie Poppe Acoustic Christmas Tour will visit select cities from coast to coast. The Roof Garden show in Arnolds Park is the opening stop on a national tour which includes dates in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, St. Louis and Nashville just to name a few.
Poppe is excited to return to the Roof Garden for her third time.
"The Roof Garden is hands down one of my favorite venues to play," she said. "The audience always brings so much energy and the atmosphere never disappoints. I’m so excited to bring my tour back to Arnolds Park this year.”
Clay Norris, executive director of the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association said Poppe's performances have been outstanding.
"Her musical skill, both vocally and with her guitar, and especially the way she relates to and interacts with the audience is a joy to experience," he said. "We are thrilled and honored that she loves performing here at the Roof Garden.”
Poppe fell in love with music at a young age, learning to play guitar, ukulele and piano. In 2016, she released her self-produced debut album, “Songs from the Basement.” After years of performing locally in Iowa, she decided to audition for American Idol stealing America’s hearts and was crowned the winner, giving the audience an emotional, overjoyed and tear stained performance of her single, “Going, Going Gone.”
Since her Idol victory, Poppe has been in high demand. During the fall of 2019, she supported Ingrid Michaelson on the Dramatic Tour, an experience she calls “a dream come true.” She has appeared on multiple TV shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live, Live! with Kelly & Ryan and the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards, and performed at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Special Olympics and CMA Fest in Nashville.
Poppe's sophomore album Whirlwind reached No. 2 on the iTunes Pop charts and her hit single “Made You Miss” earned No. 19 on the Hot AC Radio charts. Her sentimental ballad “Not Losing You” swept radio charts as well, reaching No. 17. Her holiday EP aptly titled "Christmas from Home" was released last November during her 2020 Iowa tour.
