The latest attraction in the Boji Bay Entertainment Plaza in Milford opened Monday. The Boji Bay pools will be open to the public from 1-6 p.m. daily beginning and will be operated by the YMCA of the Okobojis.
“We are excited to announce the opening of the pools in Milford,” Andrew Fisher, CEO of the YMCA of the Okobojis, said. “We’d like to thank the city of Milford, the Boji Bay Entertainment Plaza and Tim Kinnetz for making this happen. Even though we will be operating with a limited capacity for the near future, we know the opening of the pools will be a welcome addition to the community and the lakes area.”
Capacity in the Boji Bay pool area will be limited to 40 individuals in the water at one time to ensure social distancing. That will mean 20 people per pool at a time. The YMCA is requesting that visitors limit their time in the pool area to 90 minutes to accommodate additional visitors. Breaks will be called at the 50 minute mark every hour to allow for 10 minutes of additional cleaning. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer and sunscreen. Children age 7 and under must have an adult/guardian within arm’s reach while in the pool and children ages 8-12 must have an adult/guardian present at the facility.
“Our primary concern is public safety,” Fisher said. “We do recommend that facemasks be worn by anyone at the facility who is not in the pool. Individuals in the water will not be allowed to wear masks though for safety reasons.”
Due to the mid-summer timing and current regulations, only day passes will be available at this point for $5 per person. There will be no charge for children under the age of one. Individuals showing any signs or symptoms of illness should not use the facility and will be asked to leave. High risk individuals are discouraged from using the facility at this time.
