Arts On Grand thanks you

Tuesday, August 6, 2019

Arts On Grand and myself are overwhelmed with gratitude for those who helped make Backyard Bach and Blues a success this year. Backyard Bach and Blues was hosted at the Conover Residence in Spencer Saturday July 27, and it was a beautiful evening for the 220-plus attendees.

Thanks goes out to Neal and Conover, their family, and the home's caretaker, Jeff. Kitty was out pulling weeds, and their grandchildren were cleaning chairs. Their grandson, Paul, and his father, Joe, were great help the day of the event, and we extend another thank you to them. Eve Freeman (Board Member), Steve Wolter, Katie Gastelum, Renee Van Westen, Teresa Ohnesorge and members of the Northwest Iowa Soccer Club, members of the Spencer and Clay Central Everly FFA all deserve a huge thank you for their efforts in the kitchen for the better part of two days. Speaking of the kitchen, thank you to First Congregational Church allowing us to take over your kitchen for a few days. Another shout out to Pastor Tom and Pastor Wendy Van Tassell on becoming grandparents last Friday.

Thanks to those who donated hydrangeas for our center pieces and to Tricia Wempe for creating such beautiful arrangements. Thanks to Sandy Thiesen (Board Member) for organizing the arrangements. Another thanks goes to Neal Conover for organizing the Krooked Dealers to add a little something new to our event.

Thanks to Amanda Bare and Century Farms Distillery for coming out and manning a vodka tasting station and to Dolls Distributing for the beer. Thanks to SS Cycleworks for your help with our Big Sign and Sponsor Board, A&M Laundry for the tablecloths, and Dyno's for the ice.

Our Board President, Barb Workman Schneider, loses about two weeks of sleep every year leading up to Backyard. We cannot count the thank yous she deserves. Thank you to the rest of our board Beth Odor, Braden Falline, Carl Klein, Jim Schooley, Bob Rose, and our Assistant Director/Curator Melissa Cadmus who helped set up, tear down, in the kitchen, driving golf carts, selling tickets, manning the Photo Booth, bartending, and so much more.

Thank you to our major sponsor Northwest Bank and contributing sponsors Northwest Iowa Realty and Modern Woodmen.

Finally, thank you to all the attendees, without you then we wouldn’t have an Arts On Grand. All of this goes into enriching life through the arts for one more. Cheers again and thank you for another great year.
