Spirit Lake community blood drive results
For over 15 years, Spirit Lake and surrounding communities have been supporting the local blood bank, LifeServe Blood Center, at the community blood drives coordinated by John Guthrie. The blood drive was held this past Tuesday, May 14 to help the blood center keep units on hand for hospital patients across the tristate area. Several donors showed their support for saving local lives by donating blood.
LifeServe Blood Center was able to collect 38 units of blood saving up to 114 local lives. We also celebrate the following donors on their milestone donations – Travis Goetsch and Kathryn Stokke – 1 gallon, Carla Alger – 3 gallons, and Brian Smith and Timothy Pauley – 13 gallons!
If you missed this opportunity to give back, Lakes Regional Healthcare is hosting a drive on Tuesday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lakes Regional in the Big Spirit Conference Room. The next community blood drive will be Tuesday, July 9 from 1-5:45 p.m. at Dickinson County Community Building. Thanks to all who supported this drive and we look forward to seeing you next time!
LifeServe Blood Center is also offering a $500 scholarship opportunity to any student in high school or college to host their own blood drive between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend this summer! Students will be asked to coordinate and recruit donors to their blood drive with help from the local Territory Representative Allison Wegner. If you are interested, please contact her at (712) 635-4930 for more details.
Thank you for recognizing our donors,
