Okoboji girls golfers win home meet, Butler wins individual title

Returning Siouxland Conference champion and state tournament third-place finisher Okoboji continued its assault Monday at a home meet at Emerald Hills.

The Pioneers were absolutely dominant, carding a combined score of 186 to take the title by 20 strokes over the rest of the Siouxland Conference's best.

Senior Hannah Butler, a three-time state qualifier and returning fourth-place state tournament finisher, took first-place medalist honors with a round of 40. She edged teammate Martha Stein, the runner-up medalist, by three strokes.

Faith Pearson carded a 51 and Olivia Smith carded a 52 to round out the Pioneers' scoring.

MOC-Floyd Valley had three golfers in the top six. Katelyn Ruevers placed third with a 49. Madi Mulder placed fourth with a 49. Sophi Swart placed sixth with a 50.

Sioux Center's Morgan Slagler carded a 49 to place fifth.

Runner-up MOC-Floyd Valley carded a combined round of 206.

The Dutch were followed by West Lyon (223), Boyden-Hull (234), Central Lyon (239) and George-Little Rock (257).
