Laker men place 8 on all-region soccer teams

Eight Iowa Lakes Community College men’s soccer players were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division I Men’s Soccer All-Region teams.

Nicolas Likulia, Adam Pritchard and Luto Tom were named to the ICCAC All-Region First Team, Julio Rangel, Abel Gebrekiros, and Connor Goldsworthy were named Second Team All-Region, and Luan Cesar and Cameron Weston were named Honorable Mention All-Region.

The Lakers ended their season with an overall record of 15-3-1 and 9-1 record in conference.

Iowa Lakes men’s soccer coach Ben MacRae commented on each of the recipients:

Nicolas Likulia

“Nicolas Likulia has progressed tremendously over the last 12 months, and his confidence has improved, and as such he has been scoring goals for fun.”

Adam Pritchard

“Adam Pritchard has been a two-year captain and rock at the back. He reads the game exceptionally well and trains hard every day. He is hands down the best defender in the conference. “

Luto Tom

“Luto Tom lives and breathes the world of soccer and his enthusiasm is contagious thought the whole team he is a special player that will continue to develop, and we have high aspirations for his next step.”

Julio Rangel

“Julio Rangel is the heart and soul of Iowa Lakes and works tirelessly in every practice and every game to get the most out of it. He is a leader on and off the field, and he thoroughly deserves every award coming to him.”

Connor Goldsworthy

“Connor Goldsworthy has one of the best-left foots to have ever played for Iowa Lakes he is creative completive and quick. Also, with his ten assists this year makes him one of the most dangerous left backs in junior college.”

Abel Gebrekiros

“Abel Gebrekiros is one of the most exciting attacking midfielders and has pure pace and incredible skill to go past players. He puts the defenders on their heels and can score some dynamic and exciting goals.”

Luan Cesar

“Luan Cesar has improved with every game this season and has worked hard to get where he is this day. He has bags of improvement, and we are excited to see what he does his sophomore year.”

Cameron Weston

“Cameron Weston is an outstanding right back and gets forward to deliver fantastic crosses. He is as every attacking set pieces and delivers some outstanding balls.”
