Imagine pulling up for some burgers and fries,

when you see guys throwing hands, right in front of your eyes.

That seems to have happened at McDonald's in Storm Lake,

where a beef about rapping led to one big mistake.

We've all done something stupid, so I'm not trying to be mean,

but this arrest was unusual, based on reports at the scene.

It was almost 10 o'clock this past Friday night,

when police were dispatched to break up the fight.

They may have thought "college kids, trying to settle a score,"

but Mark Barnett is 59; Darchele Groce, 54.

They rapped under arches — and they both thought they won,

but escalating tensions ended all of the fun.

The men were still tangled when the squad car rolled in.

They had to be separated for the probe to begin.

Observations led Storm Lake's finest to think,

the two men involved had too much to drink.

Barnett and Groce were charged with public intoxication,

and transported down to the Storm Lake Police Station.

Disorderly conduct was an additional charge,

both simple misdemeanors, so the fines won't be large.

They were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail.

Charges aren't verdicts, give justice time to prevail.

Rap battles —  like columns — can be a great chance to rhyme,

but keep sparring verbal to avoid doing time.
