Thank you to the Milford community
The end of the summer season has arrived, but we can still remember the laughter of children enjoying inflatable attractions at Florence Park and the sound of feet hitting the pavement during the Pioneer Days run.
We saw the dedication of a new park. Firetrucks and floats from throughout the region gave us unforgettable sights and sounds. Milford honored two of its finest residents as part of the annual parade.
People met their neighbors over hot dogs on a Friday night and over hamburgers on a Saturday afternoon.
If you wanted bragging rights (and some prizes), you could play bingo, 500, pinochle, bridge or cribbage. You could smoke some brisket over the course of hours or eat a lot of pizza and pie in a short amount of time.
Families found garage sale bargains, kids had their faces painted and teenagers didn't have to wait for the start of the school year to have a dance.
The list of events goes on and on. So does the list of people who made the 50th Pioneer Days celebration a success.
Whether you sponsored an event, donated prizes, gave of your time or just joined in all of the fun — thank you. Milford's town celebration is unsurpassed in the region because of contributions large and small from people who love their community.
And remember to mark your calendars. Youngsters will once again have a chance to trick-or-treat in downtown Milford on Halloween night. Plans are well underway for Milford Holiday Fantasy weekend Nov. 30 - Dec. 2. The 51st Pioneer Days weekend is July 26-28, 2019.
