A goal reached
On behalf of the American Red Cross, we wish to express our deep appreciation and say "thank you" to every donor, volunteer and support person who participated in the Aug. 16 blood drive in Spirit Lake. A special thanks go to Grace Lutheran Church for providing a wonderful place for this to happen.
We made our goal! This is the first time we have met the goal for many drives. Our goal was 32, and we had 37 presenting donors. We obtained 38 units, had 10 no-shows for appointments and eight walk- ins. We had only one deferral. We had five double red donors for 10 pints of blood.
A special thank you to Marian Morse and Grace Gerdes working in the reception area and Judy Hagadorn, Ruth Heyne, Joan Shanafelt and Carolyn Vincelli who worked in the canteen area.
You all made a difference in someone's life, and your generosity is most appreciated by those needing transfusions in trauma situations and for on-going treatment of chronic life-threatening illnesses. Blood is in very short supply, and we are in desperate need.
Mark your calendar for Oct. 15, and let's make this an even more successful drive.
