A great Brew Fest
The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who helped make our second annual Boji Brew Fest event a great success. It took place the afternoon of Aug. 4 at the Arnolds Park Central Park shelter house. Thank you to the members of PEO, Chapter PA, who volunteered along with our club members to make set up, ticket sales and tear down run smoothly. Also, thank you for recruiting your spouses to help!
Thank you to West O Brewery and Okoboji Brewing Company for partnering with us once again and to all the brewers that participated from around the tri-state area. A big thank you to our musicians for the afternoon, Dave Rowley and Ryan Sather. Thank you also to Steffes Construction, Walmart, Hy-Vee, Mike Miller/Vienna Dogs food cart and the city of Arnolds Park. You all made a difference!
Thank you to the many local and summer residents, vacationers and out of town visitors who enjoyed the brew fest while supporting our cause! Proceeds from the event will once again go toward new equipment, benches, signage and other maintenance updates for Shelby's Playground at Elinor Bedell State Park.
Many of the renovations will be started yet this fall. The Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club, along with other partner organizations, plant flowers, pull weeds, prune shrubs and provide general maintenance every year. The playground was built by the IGL Rotary club in 2000-01 to honor the memory of a young Spirit Lake child who died from abuse. Shelby's Playground is located at Elinor Bedell State Park on the east side of East Lake Okoboji.
