Not many high school athletes get the opportunity to end their careers with a win. I was lucky enough to do just that. We had a great season, ending with a record of 29-8 and fifth overall in class 3A. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Spirit Lake community for being such a big part of my years in softball. It has been an experience I will never forget. The amazing school system and community support in Spirit Lake is something to be extremely proud of. Athletics have shaped me into who I am today and all of you have had a part in that.
First and foremost, I thank God for blessing me with where I am today, my family for always supporting me, and a big thank you to my dad for always being the man on the other side of the bucket and enduring many bumps and bruises along the way.
A huge thank you to all community members and friends who came out and supported all of our games, along with those who caught a game on the radio.
Thank you to all the businesses who supported either over the course of our season and/or trip to state. I know many of the girls had an experience that they never would have had without your support and we could not be more grateful.
Last but not least, a large amount of love and thanks goes to the following individuals. Know that you're positively impacting kids' lives with what you do.
Spirit Lake High School: Head Coach/Athletic Director Rachel Fisher, Asst. Coach Scott Chambers, Asst. Coach Jason Schneider, Asst. Coach Paige Lynn, Deb Heidebrink, Todd & Jill Gerking, Honorary Coaches: Josie Fagen and Rick Kent. Also, Dr. David Smith and family, Principal Casey O’Rourke, and Andrew Fisher
Spirit Lake Youth Travel Coaches: Steve Hassel, Steve Alger, Jay Fagen, and Dave Dewild
Jackson County Central High School: Head Coach Shelly Hotzler, Asst. Coach Pauling (and his awesome daughters), Asst. Coach Erica Colby, and Principal Larry Traetow
Sports Writers/Announcers: Matt Heinrichs (Dickinson County News), Scott Nolte (KUOO), Clyde Erke (KUOO), Lee Larson (KKOJ), Roland Schmidt (Home Game Announcer), and Honorary Announcer/DJ Tyler Alger
Thank you again to all those listed above, along with each softball parent, grandparent and extended family members.
I loved my team and my experience at Spirit Lake and could not be more grateful for my experience.
Good luck to all future Indians!
Thank you again,
