Hooray for the protesters
On June 30, 2018, hundreds of thousands of people from Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. to the Highway 71 bridge in Arnolds Park joined protesters in all 50 states to show their objection to the "zero tolerance" policy implemented by the Trump administration. A policy which would, when enforced, forcefully separate children from their parents as they are being prosecuted. A strategy planned in advance that Trump's Chief of Staff John Kelly stated, that taking the children away from their parents would be a deterrent to families from attempting to cross the border, even if they were claiming sanctuary from an unsafe situation at home. They assumed the American public would accept this strategy to protect the border. They were dead wrong! Outrage across the country arose. Liberals, independents and Conservatives joined in the chorus: You cannot use children as a threat!
Recognizing the miscalculation in his strategy, Trump issued a conciliatory order to stop the separations. This only solved half the problem — when asked "How will you reunite the children with their parents?"
The answer came back – there is no plan in place to reunite them.
Comments from around the world are coming in: Is this what the government in America does? I can only hope that it is only temporary and things will change soon.
