YMCA of the Okobojis receives funding
The YMCA of the Okobojis would like to recognize and thank the Good Neighbor Fund for the funding given to the Y that impacts both the Bedell Family YMCA and Camp Foster.
The Bedell Family YMCA received funding to assist in the purchase of new CPR mannequins for our aquatic center to be used to train lifeguards and re-certify those who hold CPR certificates. The funding allowed the Y to purchase eight adult and eight child manikins, which will improve the training experience for participants. Additionally, a portion of the funds will help offset the cost of the Kinship Mentoring Program and the costs for hosting the North Area Special Olympics for the state of Iowa. In total, this funding will impact approximately 2,500 people this year.
Camp Foster received funding that went to purchasing new lifeguard chairs and umbrellas for the pool and waterfront areas at camp. These purchases help reduce the amount of sun stress on camp staff who monitor children in the water for multiple hours per day. This funding will impact approximately 3,000 campers/camp counselors this year.
Without dedicated and engaged donors like the Good Neighbor Fund, the YMCA of the Okobojis couldn’t continue to serve the community in our current capacity. We thank them for their continued support throughout the years and look forward to continued partnership in the future.
