Wolves wrap up regular season at War Eagle meet
The Harris-Lake Park girls golf team didn't get as much time as the team wanted Tuesday night.
Waves of storms kept the high school athletes from holding long conductive pieces of metal up toward the skies. As a result, the Wolves came home with an abbreviated outing and eighth-place finish at the War Eagle Conference Championships in Sioux Center.
"The girls did a good job of battling through the weather today," coach Amanda Perkins said. "We were in weather delays throughout the day. We ended up playing nine holes instead of 18."
The Wolves carded a 223. They were led by Lexi Stahly, whose 46 was good enough for eighth place in the conference. Kenzie Heikens carded a 54, followed by Skylar Forbes (61), Katelyn Loring (62) and Jazmin Voehl, with a 70.
Harris-Lake Park's overall record for the year is 4-14.
"Not exactly where we wanted to end up but the girls are improving each time out and now is a good time to do that," Perkins said. "We start our first round of regionals on Monday, May 14 at Graettinger."
