Blizzard warning issued for Dickinson County on Saturday
The National Weather Service office on Thursday issued a blizzard warning for seven counties in northwest Iowa including Dickinson County.
The blizzard warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Rain will change to snow late Friday night, with blizzard conditions expected by early Saturday morning. The snow coupled with winds gusting as high as 50 mph are expected to cause whiteout conditions.
Significant drifting of the snow is likely. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches are expected.
Travel will be very dangerous to impossible. Fallen tree branches could create additional problems, according to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
