Wolves advance in postseason with win over Hawks
The Harris-Lake Park boys basketball team defeated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 54-33 Thursday night in the second round of Class 1A District 2 tournament play in Paullina.
The Wolves pulled ahead to a 16-9 lead after one quarter of play and stretched their advantage to 28-11 at the half. In the third quarter, Harris-Lake Park outscored HMS 10-5 before cruising to the 21-point victory in the final stanza.
Senior Bret Sohn led the Wolves with 23 points on the night. He also had five rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Fellow senior Trevor Gunderson had 10 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore Isaac Ihnen had seven points, three rebounds and a steal. Senior Bryce Perkins had 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Senior Keegan Carpenter had seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
With the win, the Wolves improved to 11-11 overall on the season. They returned to action Tuesday night in the district semifinal against 10th-ranked South O'Brien.
