Wolves rout Mavs at home
The Harris-Lake Park boys basketball team extended its win streak to three games with an 85-41 home rout of Clay Central-Everly on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
The Wolves, coming off of back-to-back wins over War Eagle Conference foes Hinton and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, were led by a quartet of double-digit scorers on the night.
Sophomore Isaac Ihnen led the pack with 19 points. He also had six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot.
Sophomore Abdulla Elbuytari had 17 points and two rebounds. Freshman Bubba Sohn had 16 points, 10 assists, two rebounds, a steal and a block. Senior Bret Sohn had 11 points, six assists, a steal and a block.
The Wolves led 22-6 after one quarter of play and extended their lead to 29 with a 30-17 score in the second. Harris-Lake Park added to its advantage with a 13-9 score in the third quarter, before outscoring the Mavs 20-9 in the final stanza to seal the 44-point victory.
Senior Keegan Carpenter chipped in 11 rebounds, five points, four assists and three steals. Fellow senior Trevor Gunderson had eight points and a steal. Freshman Caleb Nicks had six points and two rebounds. Freshman Luke Gunderson had three points and a steal for the Wolves, who improved to 8-11 overall on the season.
Harris-Lake Park (8-11, 8-7) returned to action Tuesday, Feb. 6 at home against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn. The Wolves will wrap up their regular season on Friday, Feb. 9 when they take on former Cornbelt Conference rival Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire in Terril.
