Wolfe Announces Campaign for Iowa Senate District 1
Jesse Wolfe of Emmetsburg has announced that he is a Republican candidate for the Iowa Senate seat in District 1. The position is currently held by David Johnson, who changed his political affiliation to independent in June 2016, after serving as a Republican member of the Iowa Senate for more than a dozen years.
“I am seeking the office of Senator of District 1 because I desire to bring effective representation to the residents of Northwest Iowa," Wolfe said. "It is essential that civility is returned to the political process. The citizens can trust that I will uphold the beliefs and values that make their communities and counties so exceptional. I believe in Iowa’s future.”
Wolfe has been the Chair of the Palo Alto Republican Central Committee since 2012. He has been effective in advancing Republican candidates and policies in the county. In 2017 Wolfe was elected as the Chairman of the Fourth Congressional District Executive Committee (4th DEC). The Fourth DEC represents the 39 counties that make up Iowa’s Fourth Congressional district, providing leadership and assistance to the Republican Central Committees in each county.
“The 4th Congressional District is by far the largest region in square miles in Iowa," Wolfe said. "One of the challenges that we face is doing business for a District that stretches from the Missouri River to Chickasaw County and from Ames all the way up to the Minnesota border. The solution is to use technology through teleconferencing and developing communication platforms that will shrink the distance required to hold meetings. The Fourth DEC is directing subcommittees such as our Communications Committee to develop and implement this strategy. In this way we can be more effective in assisting in candidate surfacing, fundraising and communication.”
Along with his conservative values and beliefs, thinking and implementing “outside the box” strategies are some of Wolfe’s strengths.
“I am looking forward to meeting each one of you in District 1," he said. "I will work hard for you and I am asking for your vote in the Republican primary on June 5."
Wolfe has been married to his wife Janice, a retired teacher, for 33 years. Together, they raised their four children in northwest Iowa.
Their sons, Jesse and Josh, graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Jesse is a foot and ankle surgeon in his second year of surgical residency, and Josh will begin his surgical residency in July. Their daughters, Jean and Jenna, also graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Jean is a nurse and Jenna is a senior at Iowa State, receiving dual degrees in Accounting and Finance in May.
