Wolves suffer non-conference road sweep to Mustangs

Harris-Lake Park took on non-conference opponent George-Little Rock Thursday night and came away with a pair of losses. The Harris-Lake Park girls fell 53-46 and the boys fell 79-59.

A second quarter slump cost the Harris-Lake Park girls dearly Thursday night.

They led 12-8 after one quarter of play, but scored just two points in the second quarter to fall behind 21-14 at the half. From there, the two squads were dead even, playing to a 17-17 score in the third and a 15-15 score in the fourth as the Mustangs held on for the win.

Blake Gunderson led the Wolves with 12 points, She also had eight rebounds, five steals and a block.

Jazmin Voehl had 10 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Taylor Meyer had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Rachel Martin had seven points. Aver Heikens had six points, five rebounds and two steals for the Wolves, who fell to 2-8 overall on the season.

They returned to action Friday against Gehlen, Monday against Sibley-Ocheyedan and Tuesday against South O'Brien. They will next be in action Friday on the road against Clay Central-Everly.

The Harris-Lake Park boys looked solid early on, but George-Little Rock separated over the final three quarters to win by 20 on Thursday night.

The Wolves trailed 24-23 after one quarter of play, but the Mustangs outscored them 24-13 in the second, 15-12 in the third and 16-11 in the final stanza to win 79-59.

Bubba Sohn led the Wolves in scoring with 17 points. The freshman was 5-10 from beyond the arc. He also had two steals on the night.

Trevor Gunderson had 11 points, three boards, three assists and a steal. Bret Sohn had nine points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal. Bryce Perkins had seven points, six rebounds and two steals. Isaac Ihnen had seven points and a steal for the Wolves, who fell to 3-6 overall on the season.

They returned to action Friday against Gehlen, Monday against Sibley-Ocheyedan and Tuesday against South O'Brien. They will next be in action Friday on the road against Clay Central-Everly.
