Harris-Lake Park hoops teams swept by South O'Brien
The Harris-Lake Park boys and girls basketball teams both dropped a pair of War Eagle Conference contests Tuesday, Dec. 5 to South O'Brien in Paullina.
The girls fell 45-37 in the opening game of the night and the boys fell 70-54 in the nightcap.
Scoreless fourth costs Wolves
The girls' squad, after an 0-3 start to the hoops season, took a 37-33 lead into the fourth quarter against the Wolverines on Tuesday night.
However, the Wolves were blanked in the final stanza, as South O'Brien pulled ahead for the eight-point victory.
Mady Brevik led the Harris-Lake Park offense with nine points. She also had three rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
Jazmin Voehl had seven points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. Grace Elser had seven points, two rebounds and a steal. Blake Gunderson and Rachel Martin had five points each. Martin also had four rebounds and a steal.
Taylor Meyer pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. She also had four points and a steal on the night.
Third-quarter slump dooms Wolves
The boys' squad trailed by just three points heading into the second half Tuesday night, but were outscored 18-8 in the third quarter of a 16-point loss to South O'Brien.
The Wolverines outscored Harris-Lake Park 18-15 in the opening stanza, but the two squads played to a 14-14 tie in the second. After their third-quarter struggles, the Wolves played South O'Brien closely, but the Wolverines sealed the win with a 20-17 score in the final stanza.
Bret Sohn led the Wolves with 22 points on the night. He also had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Isaac Ihnen had 10 points, three assists and a steal. Bryce Perkins had eight points, five rebounds, a steal and a block. Luke Gunderson pulled down four rebounds and Bubba Sohn dished out four assists for the Wolves (0-3, 0-2).
