Wolves fall to West Sioux in varsity doubleheader
Harris-Lake Park boys and girls basketball teams took a pair of losses Friday night in a War Eagle Conference doubleheader with West Sioux in Lake Park.
The girls fell 52-27 and the boys fell 58-55 to the Falcons.
Boys comeback bid stymied
The Wolves fell behind 10 points after one quarter of play and eventually lost by three in a back-and-forth contest.
West Sioux led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter before the Wolves outscored the Falcons 15-8 in the second to trail just 27-24 at the half.
West Sioux extended its lead with a 19-13 score in the third. Harris-Lake Park fought back, outscoring the Falcons 18-12 in the final stanza, but it was too little, too late, as the Wolves lost 58-55.
Freshman Bubba Sohn led Harris-Lake Park with 16 points on the night. He also dished out three assists.
Senior Bret Sohn notched a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to go with a team-high four assists.
Sophomore Isaac Ihnen scored 10 points. Senior Bryce Perkins had six points, six rebounds and three assists for the Wolves (0-2).
Slow start dooms Wolves
The Harris-Lake Park girls basketball team got out to a slow start Friday in a 25-point loss to West Sioux.
The Wolves scored just nine points in the first half — two in the first quarter and seven in the second — while falling behind 30-9. They outscored the Falcons 13-12 in the second half of play, but West Sioux capped the contest with a 10-5 score in the final stanza.
Junior Jazmin Voehl led Harris-Lake Park with eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
Junior Taylor Meyer had seven points, three rebounds, three assists and a block. Senior Blake Gunderson scored seven points to go with three rebounds, three steals and three blocks for the Wolves (0-3).
