Letter to the Editor regarding Charlottesville

Tuesday, August 22, 2017

I want to comment about the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The recent tragedy there was a result of two opposing forces who went to the city both looking for a fight. The ďalt rightĒ and the ďantifasĒ could have cared less about Robert E. Lee or the statue of him.

They had their own extremist, violent agendas they wanted to promoted. They got the violence they wanted and people paid for it with their lives.

President Trump condemned the violence on all sides - the racists as well as the anarchists - and for it, he has been subjected to a barrage of what I can only call hate.

Iím worried for the future of our nation. Right now I would consider the chances of another Civil War at about 60 percent. The first Civil War was bad enough, but the nation survived. Iím not so sure this time.

Pray for America and donít give in to any kind of hate.
