National Day of Prayer
Thursday, May 4, is the 66th National Day of Prayer. It will be celebrated around the nation.
In 1952, under President Harry Truman, the Congress officially passed a joint resolution designating an annual National Day of Prayer. The first Thursday was made official under President Reagan. Since the beginning, all presidents have signed proclamations for a National Day of Prayer.
From 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, May 4, there will be a gathering at the Bedell YMCA in the North Gym for the purpose of praying for our nation. The theme is “For Your Great Name’s Sake – Hear us … Forgive us … Heal us.” We will be praying for our educators, national and local leaders, families, the military, churches etc.
With all the tragedies, confusion and uncertainty prevailing around our country we need to turn to our Heavenly Father for refuge and guidance. Please join us as we pray for our country. If you are unable to attend please set aside some time as an individual or as a family to pray for our country. Prayer makes a difference.
