The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced the appointment of Ed Vos as interim executive director. Vos is the program director for five area radio stations and is the morning show host on KUOO in Spirit Lake.

He replaces former Chamber President Jeff Thee and will oversee the organization until the board of directors names a successor.

“Ed brings leadership knowledge and expertise to the Chamber and we are fortunate to have him guiding the organization during this transition,” Chamber board chairwoman Erin Davelaar said. “His commitment to the entire Iowa Great Lakes region and experience in leading successful organizations makes him an ideal choice to head the Chamber at this time.”

Vos currently serves as Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for Dickinson County and previously served as Dallas County Executive Director of Veterans Affairs. Other roles include Judge Advocate for the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the Iowa National Guard in 2008 and served in the United States Marines from 1986 to 1990.

The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce has over 400 members and exists to promote the business, civic, tourism and agricultural interests of its members and area residents, and to further the development and protection of all the area’s natural resources.
