Lakers' season ends in second round

Iowa Lakes sophomore guard Tywon Bressler swoops in for two points in the Lakers' first-round win over Iowa Central.

The Iowa Lakes men's basketball team ended their season with a 1-1 showing in the Regional Tournament.

On Tuesday, March 7, the Lakers moved to 22-8 on the season with a 89-56 win over Iowa Central.

The Lakers were led by Dennis Joiner with 18 points. Jaylon Tapplar added 16. Streeter Mcilravy had 15, and Kyle Beisch had 13.

Iowa Central was led by Tray Croft with 27.

The Lakers shot 48 percent from the floor and out-rebounded Iowa Central  53-31.

Iowa Lakes followed that win with a 97-84 loss to Kirkwood in the second round on Thursday, March 9.

Kyle Beisch and Jaylon Tapplar led the Lakers in scoring with 17 points each. Streeter Mcllravy added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Mitch Keller had 13 points, and Tywon Bressler had 12.

Kirkwood was led by Miles Wentzien with 29.

Iowa Lakes finished the year with a 22-9 overall record. The Lakers were 8-4 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play and ranked 19th in the country.
