Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire played lockdown defense Monday night, allowing just four fourth-quarter points in a 49-38 district tournament win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn.

The Titans trailed 8-5 after one quarter of play. The Hawks stretched their lead to six in the second quarter, but GT/RA responded with a late run to take a 22-18 lead at the break.

The Titans pushed their lead to double digits in the third quarter, but HMS hung around, cutting the deficit to 39-34 after three. From there, though, the Titans defense was just too much, as GT/RA outscored the Hawks 10-4 in the final stanza to salt away the win.

GT/RA was led by sophomore Tom Geelan's game-high 22 points.

Jack Van Dyke led HMS with 11.

With the win, the Titans advanced to face George-Little Rock at 8 p.m. Thursday in George.
