VAC hires executive director
The Board of Directors of the Voluntary Action Center of the Iowa Great Lakes (VAC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Angela Kofoot to serve as its executive director.
Kofoot is also on the RSVP board and a Spirit Lake High School alumn. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, she spent 16 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. While there, she worked for multiple large corporations such as Intuit and Toshiba America, where she focused on manufacturing operations and business process consulting. You may also recognize her from her prior ownership of KAPCO Pack and Ship.
Kofoot is an advisor to the Lakes Regional Healthcare Board of Directors, as well as a board member of the Lakes Area Dog Park and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP). She is excited to bring her experience with nonprofits, as well as her former work experience to the position. She is currently focused on strengthening VACís Meals-on-Wheels processes, providing better tools to Lakes Regional Healthcare and the Hawkeye Care Center (our meal providers) and increasing the amount of volunteers. She then plans to focus her attention on increasing awareness of the Meals-on-Wheels program.
Meals-on-Wheels provides hot, nutritional meals to not just the elderly, but also to disabled and homebound clients. Did you know meals are available for just a short period of time (like when recovering from hip surgery) or that meals are available at a cost of $5.50 per meal as a private paying client, regardless of age or income?
The VACís office is located within the Spirit Lake campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. VAC and Meals-on-Wheels can be reached by calling 712-336-4444. We are always looking for donations and volunteers.
