Titans remain unbeaten with overtime win
The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire boys basketball team improved to 6-0 overall on the season with a 65-62 overtime squeaker over East Sac County on Friday night in Sac City.
The Raiders held the early advantage, leading 15-13 after one and 27-25 at the break. In the third quarter, the Titans took the edge, pulling ahead 41-37.
In the fourth, East Sac County outscored GT/RA 17-13 to knot the contest at 54-54, but the Titans prevailed in overtime, outscoring the Raiders 11-8 to seal the narrow victory.
Briar Cliff hoops commit Andy Geelan was outstanding in the victory, scoring 26 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the field. He also tallied 10 assists, eight rebounds, two steals and a block.
Jared Sikora had nine points, three boards and two steals. Nick Josephson had nine points and a steal. Noah Stukey, Michael Girres and Jacob Conlon each had six points. Girres picked up seven boards and three steals for the Titans.
GT/RA girls struggle in loss
While the boys picked up an overtime victory, the GT/RA girls struggled to a 49-17 defeat in Sac City.
Emma Feldhacker had six points, three rebounds and a steal. Taylor Park had four points, three boards, two assists and two steals. Emma Heinrichs had three points, while Toni Alesch and Anna Sorenson each had two.
With the loss, the Titans fell to 1-6 overall.
