Pioneers fall to Warriors

After taking a 1-0 lead over Class 3A No. 10-ranked Sioux Center on Thursday, the Okoboji volleyball team lost three straight sets to fall to the Warriors 3-1.

The Pioneers opened with a thrilling 28-26 win in the opening stanza, but fell 25-16, 25-13 and 25-15 in the following games.

Anna Vos finished with a team-high nine kills against the Warriors. She also had five digs, three blocks and was 7-7 serving with an ace.

Molly Mitchell had seven kills and three blocks. Emily Wintz had five kills, 13 digs, five blocks and was 13-13 serving with an ace. Megan Peschong had five kills, three blocks and was 10-11 serving. Kim Naatjes had 14 assists, seven digs and was 23-24 serving. Brook Barnett had 12 assists and was 9-9 serving. Bre Kopera and Brenna McCabe both had 11 digs on the night, and Lindsey Wittrock was 8-9 serving with an ace for the Pioneers.

The loss dropped Okoboji's record to 16-12 overall and 3-4 in the Siouxland Conference.
