Pioneers run well at Nighthawk Relays
With a pair of fourth place team finishes, the Okoboji girls and boys track teams ran well at the Nighthawk Relays hosted by Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley on Friday. The boys totaled nine top-3 finishes and had three champions, while the girls had a total of nine top-3 finishes and one champion.
Hanna, relays lead Okoboji
With first place finishes from Jordan Hanna as well as a pair of wins in relay events, the Okoboji boys track squad earned a total of 85 points en route to a fourth place team finish.
Hanna placed first in the 1600-meter run in 4 minutes, 38.28 seconds, while the 4x400-meter and the distance medley team won with times of 3:31.70 and 3:40.46, respectively.
Austin Kolegraff and Colby Kraninger earned a pair of runner-up finishes for the Pioneers, as Kolegraff's toss of 144 feet, 3 inches in the discus and Kraninger's time of 2:11.84 in the 800-meters were good enough for second place.
Tyeson Barnett placed third in the 400-meter dash in 52.38 seconds; Kraninger placed third in the 3200-meter run in 10:39.86; Joe Delaney placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.49; and the 4x100-meter relay team placed third in 46.01 seconds.
Albright paces Pioneers
Olivia Albright earned the top finish for the Okoboji girls on Friday with a first place time of 1:10.96 in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Pioneers earned one runner-up finish on the day, as the shuttle hurdle relay team took second with a time of 1:13.57.
Caoena Krivolavy placed third in the discus with a toss of 101 feet, 6 inches; Darby Jones placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet; Cory Hoffman placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.02 seconds; the 4x100-meter relay team placed third in 53.14 seconds; the 4x200-meter relay team placed third in 1:56.32; the 4x400-meter relay team placed third in 4:35.01; and the 4x800-meter relay team placed third in 11:19.87.
