Letter to the Editor

Dear editor:

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

You know the difference blood donation makes. By holding American Red Cross blood drives in Milford and Spirit Lake, their residents are committed to supporting their neighbors in Iowa and across the country. Every day, the Red Cross must collect 15,000 pints of blood to meet the needs of patients at 2,700 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide -- including 15 in Iowa.

The Red Cross is seeking blood drive coordinators in Milford and Spirit Lake. Blood drive coordinators work to provide opportunities for generous blood donors to share their gift of life with patients in need. The stability of our nation's blood supply rests in the hands of thoughtful, dedicated volunteers, who understand healthy people should donate blood for patients in need.

If you're interested in becoming a Red Cross blood drive coordinator, please contact me (Whitney Joachim) at 319-270-2320 or whitney.joachim@redcross.org. With your assistance, we can help save lives!

Sincerely,

Whitney Joachim
