Fundraiser success

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Spirit Lake Middle School PIE would like to send out a "BIG THANK YOU" to our wonderful community for supporting Spirit Lake Middle School students during their recent magazine fundraiser. Our fundraiser wouldn't have been successful without you! Even though we didn't reach our overall school goal of $40,000, the fundraiser was still a success. SLMS students still raised $31,917.76, of which approximately 45 percent profit comes back to our school. A special thank you goes out to Hey Good Cookies, Corner Lanes Bowling Alley, Dairy Queen, Hill Avenue Book Company, and Custom Creations for donating items for the prize drawings for our students.

This year, SLMS students not only had the opportunity to raise money for our school, but they also had the opportunity to make a real difference in the world. Great American, our magazine company, partnered with Save the Children foundation to help families in the world's poorest communities. SLMS students who completed a Reach Out booklet or used three of their prize store tickets were able to donate a chicken to a family in need. Because of our students' generosity, SLMS will be sending funds for 30 chickens. Thank you to the following students for "Paying it Forward' and giving back to families in need: Nick Christensen, Brooke Harrington, Ruby O'Hagan, Allen Grothen, Jessie Longest, Catherine Gulick, Grace Birkland, Faith Norris, Ashley Peterson. Ellen Needs, Jordyn Hamm, Sydne Tungland, Finely Hoien, Karly Olson, and Anna Ashemann.Once again, thank you! We appreciate everyone's support!
