Baseball: Indians stay unbeaten, down Braves
Spirit Lake improved to 5-0 on the season with a 4-2 victory over Cherokee Friday, May 31 in Lakes Conference baseball play.
The Braves were held scoreless after a two-run first frame. Senior right-hander Paul Brown mowed down Cherokee over the final six innings on the way to his second pitching win of the season. Brown tossed a complete game three-hitter, walking two and fanning nine.
The Indians rallied back ahead 3-2 with a two-run fourth inning. They also tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Spirit Lake drew seven walks despite collecting only five hits. Brandon Stoll went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two stolen bases and one run batted in. Tony Eckert also singled in a run. Nick Amundson doubled and scored once as well.
