Enthusiasm for King

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

I am proud to enthusiastically support Congressman Steve King in his re-election campaign this year. As Iowans, we cannot afford to not be invested in this extremely important race.

Steve King built his business and founded King Construction in 1975 -- he began his business with one bulldozer, and built it into a company that continues today under the ownership and management of his oldest son.

One of the many lessons learned while growing both his family and his business was that government was overreaching and too often elected officials were unwilling to be a part of the solution.

Steve King has been at the forefront battling against ObamaCare -- and for good reason. In Iowa alone, the federal takeover of health care will force 150,000 Iowans onto Medicaid, with no funding to pay for it. What this means is your hard-earned tax dollars will now be even more scarce for the vital functions of state government. The federal health care system is unworkable as well as unsustainable.

Steve King is working for the Iowa taxpayers -- working every day to control spending and to bring down our national debt -- which now exceeds $15 trillion. In contrast, Iowa's budget amounts to around $6 billion. We don't need to look to Greece, Portugal and Italy to spell out the financial disaster that is rapidly approaching; common sense is shouting it from the rooftops.

Gov. Terry E. Branstad has balanced our budget at the state level and we have quit the bad practice of borrowing money to pay back expenses. It's time for Washington to do the same. It's time to send Congressman Steve King back for another term.
