Ronald "Ron" Lohse died March 15, 2012, at The Pillars Hospice in Oakdale, Minn. He was born on January 7, 1931 in Winona, Minn., the only child of Gladys (Danuser) and Roy Lohse.
Ron graduated from Winona High School and had a master's degree from Winona State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Cleo (Ledebuhr) and they had 58 years of happy marriage. They moved to Spirit Lake, where Ron taught high school industrial education. Upon retirement, Ron and Cleo moved to their beloved Northwoods home in Woodruff, Wis. Ron enjoyed nature, animals, travel, woodworking, boating, collecting and restoring antique snowmobiles, and building and flying remote control airplanes.
Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge Number 33 in Minocqua, Wis., local snowmobile clubs, Lakeland Loons Flying Club, and the Antique Snowmobile Club of America.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and son, Randy, and is survived by his wife Cleo, Maplewood, Minn.; daughter Carri Lohse-Hanson, Hugo, Minn.; cousin Jack Knothe, Montevideo, Minn.; and his loving in-law family.
The family is very grateful for the skilled and compassionate care of the staff at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood, Minn., and The Pillars Hospice in Oakdale, Minn. The family requests that memorials be made to cancer or Alzheimer's associations. A small memorial service is being planned for later this spring.
