Q&A with Coach Hector
1. What are the main differences between this year's team and last year's team?
"We had a lot of returning starters on last year's team. This year we only have four, so we will be very new at some positions. This leaves a lot of question marks early in the year on who can play where. We are very happy with the kids out this year and know we can find some great players to replace our lost starters."
2. Where do your strengths lie this year?
"We have nine seniors this year to lead our team. This is one of our main strengths. Anytime you have a big group of seniors, they always set the right tone for the rest of the team. They work very hard and are helping to prepare the younger players to help win games."
3. Where do you see the team needing to improve?
"We need to get experience and the only way to do that is play a few games. Our two non-districts games are going to be very important this year to see who can play the best at certain positions. Once we find our core group of players, the experience will come and make our team even better."
4. Who are your key returning players?
|Colin Leiting||12||SE/DL||74 tackles, 12 TFL, All-District|
|Mitch Girres||12||DT/OL||2 fumble rec.|
|Trent Lundgren||12||RB/LB||52 tackles, 1 INT.|
|Blaze Alesch||11||QB/DB||65 tackles, 8 INTs, All-District|
5. Do you have any promising newcomers in the mix?
"We don't have a ton of sophomores out, but group wise they're are quality things I've seen from them. They just need some time at the varsity level. There's definitely some potential for them to develop into varsity football players. Because of their size, Cody Chapman and Nick Thompson will see some time right away on the line both offensively and defensively."
6. Size up your district this year.
"I think this year will be one of the most competitive of the four years we have had this similar district. I will have to give the nod to Armstrong-Ringsted as the front runner, as they have some key guys coming back and had a very solid JV team last year."
