Spirit Lake wins 7on7 Shootout

Kyle Vanden Bosch, Tony Moeaki, Ricky Stanzi, Nate Kaeding, LeVar Woods, Bruce Nelson, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz and many other current and former NFL players and college coaches are in Okoboji making a difference in the lives of 300 young athletes at the second annual LeVar Woods Football Academy.

The academy kicked off with a 7-on-7 football tournament. Teams like Williamsburg, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Iowa City High and Buffalo, MN traveled hundreds of miles to compete for the 7on7 Okoboji Shootout title, but left home empty handed as a local team from Spirit Lake won the coveted title on Sunday. One of two Spirit Lake teams that competed ended up downing Cedar Rapids Prairie in the title game.

The three-day camp for boys entering grades 4-12 wraps up today at 1 p.m. Athletes will learn fundamentals, techniques and drills proven and used at the highest levels of the game.
