A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji for Harold "Bud" Kyle age 80, of Milford.
He passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24 at his home. He was born on Sept. 15, 1929, in Rock Rapids to Knut and Verna (Jensen) Kyle.
Bud graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Marian Carolus on Sept. 10, 1950, in Rock Rapids. Bud graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1953, and received his Masters Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1968.
Bud was employed by the Milford school system for 20 years, working as a teacher, coach, athletic director, counselor and principal. He retired from the Milford Schools in 1976. Bud sold insurance for several years before retiring.
Bud was a member of the Area Education Association, the Iowa Lakes Community College Board of Trustees, the Milford School Board, the Milford City Council and First Lutheran Church, where he served as a Trustee and Deacon.
He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, golfing, woodworking, building homes for his children and loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Bud is survived by his wife, Marian Kyle of Milford; a daughter, Karen Johnson, and her husband, Brian, of Albert City; two sons, Jeff Kyle, and his wife, Deb, of Milford, and Chris Kyle of Milford; five grandchildren, Allison, Lexanne, Kyle, Aaron and Casey; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Mitchell; and two sisters, Joan Schmidt, and her husband, Harvey, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ruby Bomgaars of Council Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Loran; a sister-in-law, Margaret and a brother-in-law, Arvin.
