Dog theft at Humane Society

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

I am a pet lover and I am appalled that some person or persons would steal two dogs from the Humane Society only to shoot one. The Humane Society affords the opportunity for good pets to be adopted by good families and these are not merely "pound dogs," but animals capable of giving and receiving love for many years.

Our pets come to depend on us for love and care and certainly don't deserve to be stolen from a good shelter and brutalized. The type of person capable of this action is not the type of person we want in our county and is undoubtedly capable of creating other horrors.

Somebody knows this person and it's time to come forward and do the right thing. The $5,000 for information leading to the arrest is certainly a good incentive, but the better incentive to turn this person is simply because it is the right thing to do.

If you are the person who committed this crime do the right thing and turn yourself in. If you need to, consult with an attorney first, but own up to your actions.

Let's try to get the remaining dog back to the Humane Society where he belongs to await a loving family. If anyone out there has information please do the right thing and let's stop this kind of cruelty in Dickinson County.

Sincerely,

Larry A. Stoller
