Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal for Wesley Fred Jespersen. Interment is at Oakland Cemetery in Peterson. The Rev. Deb Mechler is officiating.
Wesley Fred Jespersen, son of Lawrence Henry Jespersen and Martha Gertrude (Paulsen) Jespersen, was born May 15, 1927 in Spencer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, where he also taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. His childhood and school age years were spent in Royal and Rossie, graduating from Rossie High School in 1945. Wesley served in the Marines in 1945. Following his honorable discharge Wesley attended Dana College, in Blair, Nebraska for two years. He then returned to the Royal area to work in the grocery business. Wesley spent most of his adult life in the Council Bluffs area, where he worked as a custodian for an apartment building for over 20 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Council Bluffs. Wesley also did a lot of volunteer work in the Council Bluffs area.
Mr. Jespersen passed away at the Malvern Manor in Malvern, on Monday February 1, 2010 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Eunice, niece Nancy, nephew Darrel, brother-in-law Bob Barnard, sister-in-law Carol Jespersen and Jean Ferneding's husband Mike Ferneding.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters; Ruth Barnard of Spirit Lake and Naomi Adams and her husband Harry of Wahpeton; one brother; Donald Jespersen of Indianola; his nephew and nieces; Ned Adams and his wife Donna of Ankeny, Iowa; Jean (Jespersen) Bartholomew and her husband Craig of Halifax, Va.; Martha Helen Barnard and her husband Chad Branham of Spirit Lake; Jean (Adams) Ferneding of Manning; Barbara Groen and her husband Doug of Apple Valley, Minn.; Kathy Van Pelt and her husband Ron of Spencer; several grand nieces and grand nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
