Cooklin, Hessel announce engagement

Doug and Char Cooklin of Spirit Lake and Ron and Valarie Hessel of Bettendorf are pleased to announce the engagement of their children Rene Cooklin and Dave Hessel. Rene is a 24-year-old graduate of Spirit Lake High School, and obtained her bachelor's degree of science in microbiology from Iowa State University in 2008. She is currently working on her master's degree as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Entomology. Her research is concentrated on classical and conservation biological control within the Integrated Pest Management field at ISU. Dave is a 25-year-old graduate from Pleasant Valley High School, and obtained his bachelor's degree of science in biology from Iowa State University in 2007. He is working on his PhD as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Genetics. His research is concentrated on crop genetics and pathology within the Plant Pathology field at ISU in Ames. The couple plans to wed June 5, 2010, at First Christian Church. The couple will reside in Ames.
